Defensive Handgun Classes

Each Defensive handgun class is designed in a progressive learning structure by learning the skills in a classroom with
hands on training using dry fire methods then implementing the skills learned from classroom at the range using live fire.

Class I is the start to defensive shooting
Class II is a progressive advancement to defensive shooting.

This curriculum includes classroom and LIVE FIRE range exercises.

Defensive Handgun I

The class purpose to enhance your ability to utilize a handgun in a defensive situation.
Classroom and Range time is approximately 6 hours

Classroom:

  • Defensive Marksmanship and Safety refresher
  • Holster Draw Fundamentals
  • Shooting from Cover
  • Low light considerations and use of a flashlight/mounted light
  • Clearing malfunctions
  • Magazine changes
  • Dry fire exercises
    • From a standing position
    • From a sitting position
    • From a kneeling position
    • From behind cover
  • Multiple targets/target transitions
  • One handed shooting
  • Best Practices for Training at home (Dry-Fire exercises)

Live Fire - range event to implement your training learned from the classroom

  • Drawing and Firing from a holster
  • Live fire exercises
    • From a standing position
    • From a kneeling position
    • From behind cover
  • Multiple targets/target transitions
  • One handed shooting
  • Strong hand /support hand shooting

Beginner Handgun  + Home Security and Defense or Permit to Carry

What To Bring:

  • (classroom)
  • An open, teachable mind
  • Note Taking materials
  • Handgun 380 - 45 caliber
  • NO AMMUNITION in the class
  • Strong Gun Belt
  • Holster (hip, outside the waistband only)
  • Magazine pouches (able to carry two extra magazines on your person)
  • At least 2 working magazines (the more the better)
  • Snack/beverage
  • (range)
  • Handgun 380 - 45 caliber
  • Strong Gun Belt
  • Holster (hip, outside the waistband only)
  • Magazine pouches (able to carry two extra magazines on your person)
  • At least 2 working magazines (the more the better)
  • 200 rounds of ammunition (no ammunition for sale onsite)
  • Ear and Eye protection
  • Knee pads if desired (time will be spent kneeling)
  • Seasonally appropriate clothing suited to dynamic activity (no sandals/shorts)
  • Snack/beverage

Defensive Handgun II

This gives you a platform to train in the use of a handgun in an active and dynamic environment.

  • The 90/10 rule for Dry-Fire and how to set up your home SAFELY for inert platform training.
  • Drawing from concealment, with movement and best practices.
  • Principles and tactics for moving with stability so you can shoot more accurately.
  • Neuroscience based drills to enhance function and performance in high stress environments.
  • Mastering the ready-up presentation.  String-of-fire groups.
  • Tactics when others are present.
  • How to practice your fundamental skills to subconscious mastery.  That is the requisite variable that makes everything else possible.

Because conflict is fluid and no scenario is entirely predictable, memorizing specific techniques is not our goal.  Adaptability is the goal.
Our objective is to give you concepts and principles so you to practice, adapt, and apply your Conditioned Responses in even the most dynamic, high-stress environments.

  •  Marksmanship and Safety refresher
  • Holstered Draw Fundamentals and getting off-line. 
  • Drawing from concealment
  • Principles of moving and fighting with a handgun
  • Fundamentals of hitting a target while you are moving (strong hand, weak hand, both hands).
  • Shooting from Cover
  • SHOOTING INSTINCTIVELY - PRECISE POINT Shooting
  • Using Verbal Commands and WHY we should be integrating them into our training.
  • Low light considerations and use of a flashlight/mounted light
  • Clearing malfunctions
  • Magazine changes
  • Dry fire exercises
    • From a standing position
    • From behind cover
    • While moving
    • Multiple targets/target transitions
  • Best Practices for Training at home (Dry-Fire exercises)
